Solaris introduces Collision Mitigation System in city buses

|

By Jim Gibbins - 1st April 2020

Poland – First announcing this development at Busworld 2019 in Brussels, Belgium last year, Solaris Bus & Coach SA of Bolechowo, Poland, says it is now fitting the Collision Mitigation System (CMS) intelligent braking support system in the Solaris urban bus range.

CMS is designed to initiate automatic braking should the driver not initiate it themselves when there is risk of a collision. CMS uses a radar, installed on top of the bus, which is used to detect the risk of a potential head-on collision; when triggered, the system goes into braking mode, reducing vehicle velocity and potentially avoiding a collision.
