The Netherlands - Further to the announcement by DAF Trucks NV of Eindhoven in November of its development of an electric rigid truck, the first DAF CF Electric 6x2 refuse collection truck has entered operations with Dutch public waste disposal firm, ROVA in the Dutch city of Zwolle. The vehicle features a zero-emission VDL electric powertrain alongside a fully-electric VDL refuse collection superstructure.

A total of four, fully-electric 6x2 rigid chassis are now entering a field test for refuse collection applications. The 3-axle vehicles provide high payloads with gross vehicle weights of up to 28 tonnes and all are fitted with a steered trailing axle for increased manoeuvrability.
