USA - The first 40 foot (ft) Gillig battery electric buses have begun to be delivered to transit operators in the United States. This 40ft battery electric bus is the culmination of the three year partnership between electrified powertrain provider, Cummins Inc of Indiana, Ohio and transit bus builder, Gillig Corporation of Livermore, California.

The buses feature a direct-drive traction motor with peak torque of 3500Nm (2,582 lb-ft), and utilize energy recovered from a regenerative braking system. e-accessories are powered through various convertors with initial bus deployments utilizing plug-in charging. Gillig says inductive and conductive charging capabilities will also be available shortly.
