Knorr-Bremse buys US-based steering specialist Sheppard from ZF for $149.5m

Germany / USA – Braking and motion control systems and components supplier for rail and commercial vehicles, Knorr-Bremse AG of Munich, has concluded the purchase of steering systems specialist, R.H. Sheppard Co Inc* (Sheppard) of Hanover, Pennsylvania, USA for USD149.5m (Transaction date: June 1, 2020).

The acquisition of Sheppard was transacted by Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC, Elyria, Ohio, USA (Bendix), a North America-based subsidiary of Knorr-Bremse and part of the Commercial Vehicle Systems division from ZF. (Wabco was forced to sell Sheppard as a condition of its merger with ZF Friedrichshafen AG – see article in this issue on page 2).
