USA - An all-electric Volvo VNR Class 8 battery-electric tractor unit has entered pilot service with TEC Equipment of Fontana, Southern California, a dealership for local parts distribution of truck maker, Volvo Trucks North America Inc (a Volvo Group subsidiary) based in Greensboro, North Carolina. This is the first pilot truck to deploy as part of the Volvo LIGHTS* project, which was first initiated some 18 months ago. It will transport local parts between the TEC Equipment dealerships in Fontana and La Mirada.

Volvo says the truck uses existing electromobility technology within the Volvo Group that have been integrated into the existing North American VNR model.
