Microvast plans European battery plant near Berlin to be operational by year-end

USA / Germany / ItalyMicrovast GmbH of Frankfurt am Main, Germany - a subsidiary of fast charging traction battery producer, Microvast Holdings Inc of Stafford, Texas, USA - says it plans to build a battery and e-powertrain R&D/production plant in Ludwigsfelde (near Berlin), Germany for the EMEA market. 

Microvast said the new facilities were to be built on a plot covering 36,000 square metres and that construction had been scheduled to start in April this year with completion expected by December 2020. Microvast said this new EMEA Central Plant has been designed to deliver a total volume of 1.5GWh of battery modules and systems initially with capability to increase this fourfold to 6GWh within the next few years. Microvast expects the location to be able to accommodate and employ up to 250 people.
