Poland - Bolechowo-based Solaris Bus & Coach SA is to supply the first electric school bus in Poland. It will carry children to classes in Godzianów, near Łódź. The purchase of the electric school bus was subsidised by NFOŚiGW (the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management) and the bus will be delivered to the Municipality of Godzianów in October this year.

The school bus is based on the electric Urbino 12 model. This has an on-board energy storage system that consists of Solaris’s own new generation batteries (Solaris High Energy+), which offer a total energy capacity of almost 240kWh. These power an electric drive axle with two integrated motors of 125kW each. This solution, Solaris states provides a drive range of at least 200km in all road and weather conditions as well as a comfortable, smooth ride that is noise-free and without vibrations.
