Japan - Toyota Motor Corporation of Toyota, Aichi, Japan says it has developed a new world  first ‘stamp-type plating’ technology for metal coatings. The new technology uses a polymer membrane (solid electrolyte membrane) through which metal ions can pass to apply plating, like a stamp, but only to those areas requiring plating. The technology is used in the plating process for forming copper, nickel, and other metal coatings on substrates in the process of manufacturing electronic parts.

Toyota also says it is collaborating with Mikado Technos Co Ltd of Nagano, Japan, a materials production specialist and Kanematsu Corporationof Tokyo, Japan (a large conglomerate) to manufacture, sell and expand the use of new plating machines based on this new technology. The machines were officially launched on July 1.
