UK – Bus and coach builder, Alexander Dennis Ltd of Larbert, UK (a subsidiary of the NFI Group Inc of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) says circumstances have forced it to restructure its activities, predominantly because of the significant decline in UK demand for its products. The restructuring programme places up to 650 jobs at risk across all facilities.
Many bus operators in the UK are not in a position to place orders for new vehicles due to the slowdown in demand: The impact of preventative actions taken by the UK government to reduce the spread of the coronavirus such as lockdown, social distancing and active encouragement of passengers not to use public transport, has severely impacted the decision to buy new buses.
