USANavistar International Corporation (Navistar) of Lisle, Illinois, USA, has started to supply the new Allison 3414 Regional Haul Series (RHS) transmission, an uprated variant of the Allison’s 3000 Series transmission from Allison Transmission Inc of Indianapolis, Indiana, in its regional haul (RH) tractor models – it announced on July 14, the first International RH Series vehicles equipped with the new RHS transmission had rolled off the manufacturing line and that full production was expected later this year.

Introduced late last year by Allison, the Allison 3414 RHS transmission comes with the same form, fit and connections as a current Allison 3000 Series option, whilst offering up to 410hp and 1450lb/ft of torque. Allison says the 3414 RHS delivers 25% faster acceleration from 0 to 20mph as compared with competitive automated manual transmissions. It also says the new transmission also offers fuel economy improvements of up to 8% with Allison’s xFE technology and FuelSense 2.0 with DynActive Shifting, which is included with every 3414 RHS. International and Allison also claim the 3414 RHS will be the lightest transmission in this segment by some 11%.
