USA – The electric hybrid propulsion system supplied by BAE Systems of Endicott, New York, which bridges the gap between conventional drives and full electric or fuel cell systems, remains a viable option for reducing emissions and saving fuel in areas where charging infrastructure is unavailable, maintains BAE Systems.

Buses employing its latest Series-ER (Electric Range) run at 35% of the time on zero-emission electric power, BAE Systems states. Series-ER combines motors, energy storage (lithium-ion batteries) and smart controls to create a clean form of electric drive power for buses. (A petrol, diesel, propane or CNG engine can be used as a generator when not operating in the zero-emission or green zone).
