USA – Recent steering systems acquisitions over the past few years by Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC of Elyria, Ohio will allow it to further integrate steering-centred directional controls with its air braking system controls and electronics portfolio. CV steering acquisitions include R.H. Sheppard Co Inc of Hanover, Pennsylvania, USA (June 2020); Hitachi CVS Steering Ltd in Japan (April 2019) and the ProSteering business of JM Engineered Products, a Lebanon, Tennessee-based remanufacturer of all-makes power steering systems (November 2018). Additionally, its parent company, Knorr-Bremse AG of Munich, Germany, since 2013, using Sentient Blueprint Steering (a Swedish company based in Gothenburg) has provided Bendix with steering-related software to integrate camera input and power new ADAS functions.

Bendix says it is taking further steps toward more deeply integrated systems as a   pathway to highly automated and safer vehicles. Bendix says resources built through recent acquisitions and agreements, as well as investments in expertise and facilities, are providing the tools and people to continue with its leading-edge development and manufacture of active safety, air management, braking and steering solutions for commercial vehicles across North America.
