Irizar e-mobility to supply 13 ie Tram units for BEI in Vitoria-Gasteiz

Spain – Irizar e-Mobility (a division of Irizar Group of Ormaiztegi of Spain) is to supply six, 12m ieTram units plus seven 18m articulated versions for operation by operator BEI on a 10km loop within the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz. The first 12m ie Tram has already been delivered and presented at numerous events locally prior to entering initial operational services without passengers.
The 12m model has three doors and 22 passenger seats. It is driven by a 180kW electric motor powered by lithium-ion batteries developed and manufactured by Irizar e-mobility at its facility in Aduna, Gipuzkoa. The vehicles are to be charged on-route via four-minute interoperable ultra-fast charging stations. Route infrastructure was built by construction firms, Yarritu and LKS in collaboration with Irizar e-mobility and includes all engineering work, civil construction, signage, and communications.
