USA – Electric commercial vehicle supplier, Lightning Systems of Loveland, Colorado, is expanding its manufacturing output to meet increased demand: The company is claiming an order book worth in excess of USD32m from both commercial and government fleet operations prompting the need to more than triple its manufacturing capacity in Loveland.

Three years ago, Lightning moved its headquarters, manufacturing, and R&D operations into the former Hewlett-Packard/Agilent campus in southwest Loveland. More recently it took over the entire building on the campus, expanding its square footage from 45,000 to 142,000. Work converting the facility for the expansion began in January 2020 and included investment in new high-capacity vehicle and battery charging and testing systems, new fabrication and wiring-harness equipment, semi-automated centres for conversion, and powertrain testing and automation equipment. With this expansion, Lightning says it has also nearly doubled its number of employees from 40 to 70.
