USA - Preco Electronics Inc, an Idaho-based vehicle safety technology components and systems supplier, has been acquired by Sensata Technologies Inc, a global industrial technology company headquartered in Attleboro, Massachusetts, USA. Sensata says the acquisition of Preco Electronics, which designs, engineers, and manufactures collision mitigation technology that is optimized for heavy-duty equipment, would extend Sensata capabilities in vehicle collision avoidance systems for industrial and heavy vehicle on/off-road markets.

Preco has two main products for the on-highway market: Its PreView Side Defender II radar protects the blind spot on fleet vehicles by actively alerting an operator when turning or changing lanes if there is an object, vehicle or person in their side blind spots. When combined with a camera system, such as the PreView Plus system, or an existing camera system, (integrated via the PreView VideoLink), operators, says Preco, have the most effective object detection system.
