Sweden / UKScania AB of Södertälje, Sweden (a Traton Group company) has launched its first series production range of electric trucks. The range includes L and P Series full electric rigid trucks and a high-performance plug-in hybrid option. Scania's key focus is initially on urban applications, including distribution to retailers.

L- and P-series electric rigids are offered with either a 165 or 300 kilowatt hour (kWh) battery pack to power its 230kW (310hp) electric motor which delivers 2,200Nm of torque. Five batteries are used for 165kWh, with nine batteries employed for 300kWh. With the combustion engine removed, one battery is placed in the former engine tunnel with the remaining four or eight batteries placed along the chassis sides. In 300kWh format, a range of up to 250 kilometres can be achieved on a single charge.
