Hino Trucks USA partners with SEA Electric of Australia to offer Class 5 electric truck

USA / Australia – “Hino Project Z is Hino’s step into zero emission vehicles,” said Glenn Ellis, senior Vice President of customer experience at Hino Motor Sales USA Inc (Hino USA) both of Novi, Michigan, USA. Ellis says that Hino is developing the biggest breadth of zero emission vehicles from Class 4 to Class 8. It is running this project with several different partners to develop a variety of vehicles.
The first one is a cabover product with specialist truck conversion partner, SEA Electric of Swinburne University of Technology, Torrance, California (a subsidiary of electric drivetrain start-up (2012) SEA Electric Pty Ltd of Dandenong, South Australia). This is a Hino M5 4x2 electric Class 5 truck (rated up to 19,500lb gvw), two are on trial with Staples, one on the west coast and the other on the east coast of the USA.
