USA – Electric bus builder, Proterra Inc of Burlingame, California, also a producer of batteries, has unveiled its very latest series of battery packs, called the H Series, which offer customisable energy storage systems to power a wide range of heavy-duty commercial vehicles. The new, narrower H Series battery packs have been designed to package into standard truck frame rails and increase packaging flexibility for Proterra Powered customers. Proterra says it will continue to offer its S Series battery packs, which power Proterra's battery-electric transit buses and other Proterra Powered vehicles in addition to the new H Series.

The modular H Series and S Series battery packs are highly customisable, enabling vehicles to be built with multiple packs powering an energy storage system. The more compact H Series battery packs have a width of 620mm and the ability to hold 25-75kWh of energy storage capacity. S Series battery packs have a width of 860mm and can contain up to 113kWh of energy storage per pack. Additional specifications for the H Series battery pack are available. Flexibility within the battery customisation system allows fitment to a wide variety of vehicle applications and use of a ruggedised commercial grade housing protects against harsh environments.
