Poland - Solaris Bus & Coach of Bolechowo-Osiedle, Poznan (part of CAF Group), has launched a new 15m battery-electric Urbino city bus, the Urbino 15 LE electric, which is aimed at both urban and intercity operation. The company presented its latest addition to the Urbino range in an online presentation on October 20 (www.solarisbus.com/premiere).

Equipped with six SIC (silicon carbide) battery packs (designated Solaris High Energy+), four at the rear of bus and two mounted in the roof area, providing up to 470kWh, Urbino 15 LE is claimed to have a range of several hundred kilometres – dependent on operating conditions such as topography and climatic conditions. It can have plug-in charge points installed at four locations on the vehicle or operators can also specify a roof-mounted pantograph or charge rails for inverted pantograph charging.
