The Netherlands – VDL Bus & Coach BV of Valkenswaard has developed anti-Coronavirus disease (Covid 19) packages for its Citea buses and Futura coaches under the name, VDL Pure Air Technology. The packages enable rapid replacement of the air inside the saloon through special filters which can remove the Coronavirus (ie the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 or SARS-CoV-2).

VDL says as the Coronavirus spreads in different ways. Experience shows infection is most often caused by virus particles on surfaces and in aerosols in the air. In addition to the basic rules on board of the bus (disinfecting hands, wearing face coverings, and keeping your distance), replacing as much air as possible is seen as a major safety measure. By constantly changing the air, the presence of virus particles is reduced to a minimum.
