Caio supplies 87 low floor Access buses on Volvo chassis to Mexico City

Brazil / Mexico – Brazilian bus body manufacturer, Caio Induscar Industria e Comercio de Carrocerias Ltda (Caio) of Botucatu, in partnership with Volvo Group Mexico, S.A., located in Son, Mexico has supplied 87 new low floor Euro VI city buses as part of a renewal programme of the Passenger Transport Network (RTP) fleet in Mexico City, Mexico.

The Caio bus model is the 41-seat Millenium urban model (which, when exported is called Access), were exported as semi-knocked-down (SKD) kits from Caio’s premises in Botucatu to Volvo’s premises in Cd Obregón, Son, México in December 2020, where they were then assembled with the technical support of Caio professionals. They are due to start operations the first quarter of 2021. These Access buses follow an order of 30 units delivered to RTP by Caio early last year.
