The Netherlands / Finland – The first New Generation Citea from VDL Bus & Coach BV of Valkenswaard has been ordered by the Koiviton Auto Group (KAG*) in Finland for operation in the 2021 ‘European Green Capital’ of the city of Lahti. It is to be part of an order for 18 Citea LLE Electric buses announced last October.

VDL is planning to display its new range for the first time during Busworld in Brussels from 9-14 October 2021. The new generation Citea will consist of four length variants that incorporate an innovative composite sidewall, which is claimed to be 15% lighter than a conventional sidewall. The battery pack is integrated into the floor as standard to ensure better weight distribution, greater stability (safety) and to increase passenger capacity. VDL says its choice of efficient components, lightweight construction, good insulation, aerodynamic design and optimum energy management reduce the vehicle’s energy consumption by up to as much as 30%.
