India - Covid hits tractor sector worse than rigid truck segment

India – Haulage tractor sales fell by 61.2% during the first three quarters (April to December) of fiscal year 2020-21 (Q1-Q3/2020-21) to register just 5,467 units compared with 14,107 units in the same period of the previous year (2019-20). Tractor production dropped by almost the same percentage (-60.1%) to 400 units (4,021).

The light-weight tractor (26.4 tons < GVW ≤ 40 tons) segment saw sales register 905 units in Q1-Q3 FY2020-21, a decrease of 77.6% from 4,041 units in the same period of 2019-20. Production consequently showed a decrease of 90.1%.
