India - LCV bus sales down 80% in first nine months of FY2020-21

India –  Sales of light-duty vehicles (7.5t & below) fell by 79.2% to 7,426 units in the first nine months (April to December) of fiscal year 2020-21 (Q1-Q3 FY2020/21) from 35,644 units in same period of 2019-20. Production decreased by 71.1% to fewer than 10,000 units from 33,862 in the same period of 2019-20; exports dropped by 71% to 908 units.

In the minibus segment with more than 13 seats (GVW ≤ 5 tons and no. of seats including the driver exceeding 13) registrations shrank by 77.4% to 2,875 from 12,715 units, while exports fell by 79.5% to just 45 units (219) and output fell victim to demand by -66.3% to 3,473 vehicles compared with 10,300 built in the same period of 2019-20.
