India - Light truck sales volumes increase by 5% in Q3

India – Sales of LCV goods carrier vehicles (trucks of gvw ≤ 7.5t) increased by 5% to 139,041 units in Q3 of FY2020-21 from 132,420 units in same period of FY2019-20. Production increased by 15% to more than 151,252 units (131,524) and exports grew by 20.9% to 10,776 units (8,914).

The largest segment, SCVs of GVW ≤ 2t, saw registrations fall modestly by 9% to 51,671 units in Q3/FY2020-21 from 56,765 units in Q3/FY2019. Production decreased by 2.9% to 56,694 units and export sales rose by 28.9% to 2,284 (1,772). Maruti Suzuki recorded an increase of 92.1% to register a sale of 12,076 units in Q3/FY2020-21, Tata Motors which still dominates with the Tata ACE saw its share eroded with a 25% decrease in sales.
