India - Rigid truck sales incur record drop in first nine months of fiscal 2020-21

India - Sales of medium and heavy rigid trucks (7.5t gvw and above) in India fell by 45.6% in the first nine months (April to December) of FY2020-21 to 72,109 units from 132,575 units in same period of the year FY2019-20. Exports of rigid trucks also declined, by 38.1%, to 6,815 units in the first three-quarters of FY2020-21 from 11,005 units in the same period of the year 2019-20. Production of rigid trucks fell by 40.7% to 82,990 from 1,40,062 units.

Sales of medium-duty rigid trucks (7.5t to 12 tons) fell sharply by 57.4% to 14,687 units in Q1-Q3 of FY2020-21 from 34,452 units in same period last year. Export sales fell by 39.5% to 2,324 (3,843) and production decreased by 30.2% to 28,526 (19,900).
