India - Strong Q3 heavy rigid truck sales boost total sales

India – Sales of medium and heavy rigid trucks (7.5t gvw and above) in India experienced a positive upswing of 18.7% in Q3 of FY2020-21 (October to December 2020) to register 45,424 units compared with 38,283 units in same quarter of the year 2019-20. Exports of rigid truck too were up, by 5.5% to 3,894 units in Q3/FY2020-21 from 3,691 units in the same quarter of the previous year. Production of the rigid trucks increased by 47.8% to 50,901 units in Q3 of FY 2020-21, up from 34,446 units in the Q3 of the previous year.

Sales of medium-duty rigid trucks (7.5t to 12 tons) contracted by 14.9% to register 9,239 units in Q3/FY2020-21 (10,859 units), exports also shrank by 7.8% to 1,426 (1,579), whereas production soared by 37.2% to 11,540 units (8,409).
