India - Tractor sales fall modestly in Q3

India - Tractor sales decreased by just 4.3% during the third quarter (Q3: October to December 2020) of fiscal year 2020-21 (FY2020-21) to register 4,049 units compared with 4,229 units in the same quarter of the previous year (FY2019-20). Tractor production rose by 41.3% overall from 2,998 units to 4,236 units and exports, while small, increased by 200% to 66 units (22).

Light-weight tractor (26.4 tons < GVW ≤ 40 tons) sales contracted almost 40% to 709 units from 1,167 units, while sales of light-heavy-duty tractors (40T < GCW < 46t) fell by 17.8% to register 935 units in Q3/FY2020, down from 1,138 units in the same quarter of FY2019-20. Production decreased by 19.9% and exports up by 375%.
