Proterra opens new battery production facility

USA – Electric bus builder, Proterra Inc of Burlingame, California has opened a new battery production line at its electric bus manufacturing facility in City of Industry, Los Angeles County.
The new line, which adds to the line established a year ago, will manufacture Proterra’s redesigned modules with next-generation cells developed with LG Energy Solution, Proterra's Korean battery cell chemistry partner, based in Seoul. The new battery packs, Proterra states improve on its existing energy systems offering greater energy storage capacity and higher power density to enable increased range and faster charge times. Since 2016, Proterra and LG engineering teams have been collaborating to maximize cell performance to meet the stringent requirements of commercial vehicle markets.
