Germany – The management team of solar-power transport solutions company, TRAILAR Ltd has successfully completed a management buyout from Deutsche Post DHL Group. As DPDHL Group continues to focus on its core business, the decision was reached to spin off the business in an MBO. DHL continues to use TRAILAR’s innovative solar-powered solution in its fleets of vehicles across the world.

TRAILAR was founded by Aaron Thomas and Denny Hulme five years ago. They formulated the idea that putting solar panels on trucks could save fuel during a DHL Management Development Programme. The innovation was developed into a business case within ‘Start-Up Lab’ - DPDHL Group’s corporate incubation programme - and in 2018, funding was provided by the Group to set up TRAILAR as a standalone business.
