USA - Navistar International Corporation of Lisle, Illinois, plans to sell its engine R&D testing facility and former engine manufacturing plant at Melrose Park in Illinois to a developer by the end of 2021 for redevelopment into a state-of-the-art industrial business park. In August 2017, the company announced plans to cease all engine production at its Melrose Park facility by the second quarter of 2018, while continuing to transform it into Navistar’s technical centre, including truck and engine testing and validation, used truck sales and reconditioning – a process that started in 2010.

The company will take an approximate USD85m charge because of the exit from the facility, including approximately USD40m of cash-related charges. The sale agreement and subsequent divestiture of the Melrose Park property is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
