New Zealand / UK – Scottish bus and coach manufacturer, Alexander Dennis Ltd of (ADL) Larbert, UK, a subsidiary of Canada’s NFI Group Inc, has welcomed confirmation by the New Zealand Government of its funding of NZD50m (GBP26m) to help councils fully decarbonise their public transport bus fleet by 2035.

The funding is for the procurement of zero emission buses as well as instigating a series of measures intended to meet New Zealand’s 2050 carbon neutral target. It is estimated by decarbonising the bus fleet, New Zealand could prevent up to 4.5 million tonnes of CO2 emissions.
