Indonesia - Pickup truck market still in decline

|

By Jim Gibbins - 1st March 2021

Indonesia - The Indonesian pickup truck segment is almost entirely made up of models imported as built-up units from Thailand. The only domestic model is the Isuzu Panther, which shares its platform with the Panther utility vehicle sold mainly in Indonesia in increasingly small volumes. The segment is highly dependent on the country’s mining sector.

The pickup truck segment declined by 7.5% to 4,312 units in the fourth quarter of 2020 from 4,661 units a year earlier, resulting in a more than 34% drop in full-year sales to 12,199 units from 18,586 units in 2019.
