Malaysia - Sales of pickup trucks rebounded strongly in the fourth quarter of 2020, by over 37% to 13,145 units from 9,580 units in the same period of the previous year, wiping out most of the earlier declines and resulting in a fall in full-year sales of just 3.7% to 33,034 units.

Toyota continues to dominate this segment last year, albeit with sales of its Hilux truck falling by almost 6% to 13,825 units, while Mitsubishi strengthened its position up second place with sales of its Triton model rising by over 19% to 6,915 units. Ford claimed third place after sales of the Ranger model fell by just over 8% to 5,156 units, followed by Isuzu with a 4% increase to 4,031 units – helped by the launch of the new D-Max, while sales of the ageing Nissan Navara continued to fall by almost 28% to 3,025 units.
