Malaysia - Sales of rigid trucks over 2 tons gvw, excluding pickup trucks, increased by over 20% to 4,195 in the fourth quarter of 2020 after declining by almost 24% to 3,493 units in the same period of the previous year. Full-year sales were still down however by over 18% at 10,665 units after a similar decline to 13,086 units in 2019, reflecting sharply lower domestic economic activity.

Segment leader Isuzu saw its rigid truck sales fall by just 6.5% to 4,747 units in 2020, while second-placed Hino’s sales plunged by over 32% 3,400 units and Mitsubishi-Fuso’s reported a decline of just over 11% at 1,638 units. UD Trucks made a small gain, with sales rising by 2.5% to 366 units.
