Thailand - LCV sales slide 14.5% in 2020

Thailand - The market for other light commercial vehicles between 2-6 tons gvw declined by 7.8% to 6,041 units in the fourth quarter of 2020 from 6,552 units in the same period of the previous year, resulting in a 14.5% fall in full-year sales to 19,450 units from 22,760 units in 2019. The performance of the individual brands varied significantly, reflecting the diversified nature of this segment.

Market leader Toyota saw combined sales of its Hiace and Alphard models fall almost 11% to 10,111 units after declining by 19.7% to 11,305 units a year earlier. Hyundai reported a 41% drop in Starex minibus sales to 2,967 units, while sales of the Nissan Urvan plunged by almost 48% to 313 units.
