Vietnam - Medium and heavy-duty truck sales fell by segment

Vietnam - Sales of medium and heavy-duty trucks over 5 tons gvw fell by almost 10% to 7,696 units in the fourth quarter of 2020 from an already weak 8,525 units in the same period of the previous year, resulting in a drop of over 16% in full-year sales to 19,292 units from 23,080 units.

Truong Hai continued to dominate this segment last year despite a 5.5% decline in Thaco/Foton sales to 10,718 units, while Hino gained ground in second place after its sales jumped by almost 26% to 3,325 units. All other truck brands reported sharp declines, including drops by Isuzu and Tan Chong/Hyundai of more than 42% and close to 50% by VEAM.
