Germany / UK – The Brake Performance Monitoring System of idem telematics GmbH of Ulm, Germany (a company of the BPW Group of Wiehl, Germany) is now being rolled-out across the European market including the UK through BPW Ltd of Leicester. Designed to give customers a clear view of trailer braking performance, the system continually monitors the trailer brakes’ performance in real-time.

The system uses data from the electronic braking system (EBS), and together with data acquired from other systems, it can produce performance figures for the semi-trailer’s brakes. These data reports enable critical issues such as early identification of brake force loss to be identified. A significant advantage to operators is the BPW idem brake performance monitor can be used as an alternative to roller brake testing in the UK. There is an additional feature whereby BPW Ltd can identify incompatibility (between tractor and trailer) and fine tune the brake calculations to improve the life of the products.
