20 VDL Citea ebuses on order for Kiel

The Netherlands / Germany - Kiel transport operator, KVG Kieler Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH in Germany has ordered 20 more Citea SLF-120 Electric buses from VDL Bus & Coach NV of Eindhoven, Netherlands in addition to the 47 articulated electric buses it has already acquired.

The SLF-120 Electrics are scheduled for delivery to start in September and will run on five lines in the city. They are to be fully charged overnight and take advantage of opportunity fast charging where the necessary charging infrastructure is available at the terminus stops. Since the first Citea went into service with KVG in September last year, more than 160,000 electric kilometres have been covered. KVG has so far taken 19 electric buses into operation.
