Germany / Italy / Belgium -  A new overhead wire system in the Italian city of Pescara is to charge battery-powered buses equipped with In Motion Charging (IMC) technology from Kiepe Electric GmbH of Dusseldorf, Germany, a subsidiary of Knorr-Bremse AG of Munich. From mid-2022, a consortium of Kiepe Electric and bus builder, Van Hool NV of Koningshooikt, Belgium, is to supply six zero-emission 18m Exqui.City IMC 500 buses to Pescara public transportation operator, TUA.

TUA (Trasporto Unico Abruzzese) has commissioned Colas Rail Italia with forming a consortium to realise the local transportation project in Pescara. This involves constructing the overhead line infrastructure and procuring the vehicles. There is also an option for a further three buses.
