UKDon-Bur (Bodies) Ltd, the Stoke-on-Trent trailer manufacturer, says it is working together with the North Staffordshire Engineering Group (NSEG) Training Association to introduce a new training scheme for Don-Bur’s engineering apprentices. Don-Bur says it plans to take on 15 new engineering apprentices this year as part of a long-term commitment to develop and retain critical skills at its commercial trailer manufacturing plant. The scheme is also to ensure it has the right level of skilled workforce as it expands its trailer building operations on a redeveloped six acres site adjacent to its headquarters and manufacturing base in Stoke on Trent – see separate article in this month’s news.

Don-Bur says it has already engaged the services of eight hand-picked apprentices this year who demonstrated the willingness and potential to grow within the business. Apprenticeships, from initial training up to and including Technician level 3 and Graduate level 4 schemes, are considered vitally important both its employees and to the growth of the business. By offering career stability and planned structured growth for its workforce, this provides benefits for both the apprentices and the company, says Don-Bur.
