Toyota develops modular fuel cell packaging for ease of installation and collaboration with other FC producers and EV builders

Japan - Toyota Motor Corporation of Toyota, Japan has developed packaging to house fuel cell systems into compact modules, which, it says, it plans to begin selling it in the spring of 2021 or later. The new module is designed to be utilised easily by companies developing and manufacturing fuel cell systems for a wide variety of applications, including transport such as trucks, buses, trains and ships.

Toyota explains it has developed a single compact modular package that includes its second generation Mirai fuel cell together with other key FC system components for handling air supply, hydrogen supply, cooling, and power control. This new module is available in four models - a vertical type (Type I) and a horizontal type (Type II), with rated outputs of either 60kW or 80kW.
