Allison eGen Flex electric hybrid to commence operation in New York

USA - Allison Transmission Inc of Indianapolis, Indiana next generation eGen Flex electric hybrid propulsion solution is to enter revenue service at New York City Transit (NYCT) in May. The eGen Flex electric hybrid is the next generation on from the proven H 40/50 EP electric hybrid propulsion systems.
The electric hybrid system allows fully electric propulsion when customers need it, without the added infrastructure requirements of full electrification. The eGen Flex system includes full electric drive capability for up to 10 miles, depending upon duty cycle and accessory load demands. This option will be set automatically through geofencing technology for zero emission zones and passenger depots for a quieter and cleaner environment.
