Chile / France / Sweden - With an investment of more than USD30m, the Michelin Group of Clermont-Ferrand, France has started construction of its first ever end-of-life tyre recycling plant in the Antofagasta region of Chile, South America.

The operations, which are scheduled to start in 2023, are part of the company’s ‘All Sustainable’ concept and its commitment to producing more sustainable tyres. The plant is to have an annual capacity to recycle 30,000 tons of heavy vehicle tyres, which equates to about 60% of the annual output of heavy-duty rubberized materials that is scrapped each year in Chile.
