Russia – The Kama Auto Plant (KamAZ) of Naberezhnye Chelny, has expanded its city bus portfolio to include a low-floor articulated city bus, KAMAZ-6299, in its own name. The renowned heavy-weight truck maker began manufacturing city buses under its own name in 2018, largely at the request of Mosgortrans, the public transportation operator for Moscow. Today Mosgortrans operates 1,542 (diesel) buses and 400 electric buses, carrying the KamAZ logo.

Subsequently, the new articulated city bus has been developed at the KamAZ Science and Technology Centre on orders from Mosgortrans. It has since been tested by drivers from the Science and Technology Centre in Moscow on chosen city routes over a two week period without passengers, but instead, with cargo loads imitating a 50% passenger occupancy in the vehicle. The main purpose of the test was to determine median fuel consumption on the city routes and to fine-tune the telematics to ensure the bus met with the requirements of the city authorities.
