USA / Japan - Bridgestone Americas Inc, a Nashville, Tennessee, USA-based subsidiary of Japan’s Bridgestone Corporation, has made a minority investment in Kodiak Robotics Inc, a San Francisco, Silicon Valley-based self-driving trucking company. The partnership will allow Bridgestone to integrate its smart-sensing tyre technologies and fleet solutions into Kodiak's level 4 autonomous trucks. The companies also announced they would also pilot future autonomous and smart tyre technologies to further enhance vehicle intelligence.

Kodiak moves freight autonomously for its customers using its fleet of level 4 self-driving long-haul trucks in the state of Texas with a safety driver on board. Bridgestone's suite of cloud-based technologies utilise connected vehicle data to help predict tyre health and maintenance, as well as optimise tyre lifespan.
