Light truck market in Russia sees steady recovery in Q1/2021

Russia – Sales of light-duty trucks (up to 5.99t gvw) in Q1 of 2021 increased by 14.9% year-on-year to 26,549 units (23,101), according to data produced by Avtostat Info data. Sales of Russian-branded models went up by 14.6% to 18,002 units from 15,709 and foreign models (Ford, Hyundai etc) increased by 15.6% to 8,547 units from 7,392.

GAZ was market leader accounting for 40% of the market but falling narrowly in volume terms by 0.7% to 10,336 units overall. The GAZelle NEXT remained the most popular vehicle in the segment with 5,547 registrations, despite a decline of 3.8%. Ford Transit was the leader among foreign brands with 3,204 units, an increase of 34.7% on registrations in the first quarter last year of 2,379.
