Germany / Poland - Daimler Buses of Stuttgart has its first order for fully electric city buses from Poland- they will be delivered to Gdynia. The order is for eight articulated Mercedes-Benz eCitaro buses and 16 solo buses for delivery this year for operation by the Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacji Autobusowej Sp. z o.o. (PKA Gdynia) transport company.

The eCitaro models will feature the latest-generation lithium-ion batteries which can be recharged rapidly either using a plug connection or a pantograph with a charging output of up to 300kW. Besides the standard plug-in connection, which is available, the eCitaro can also be charged using an additional plug-in connection at the rear of the vehicle. The buses also feature a pre-conditioning system which allows the battery and passenger compartment to be brought up to the appropriate temperature to ensure that the vehicle is already at the right temperature before it leaves the depot. This promotes the greatest possible efficiency ensuring energy consumption optimised.
