Russian truck market expands almost 12% in first quarter of 2021

Russia – In the first three months of 2021, a total of 19,101 medium and heavy-duty trucks were sold in Russia, which was 11.5% more than the 17,076 registered in the first three months of 2020. Excluding sales by the seven European truck brands, registrations of Russian and other truck brands increased by 19.5% to 14,111 units from 11,359, according to Avtostat Info data. Sales of Russian truck brands only, soared by 23.9% from 9,274 to 11,490 units, while sales of the seven western European truck brands contracted by 5% from 5,270 to 4,990.

GAZon NEXT was the most popular medium truck with 1,573 units sold (up 26.7% up). In the heavy-duty segment all top three places went to vehicles produced by Kamaz in Nabereznye Chelny: Kamaz-43118 (6х6) – 2,086 units (up 12.0%), Kamaz-65115 (6х4) – 1,308 units (up 28.4%) and Kamaz-5490 – 1,198 units (up 74.9%).
