Germany – SAF Holland SE of Bessenbach, Germany has reported test results from its initial test phase under real-world operation of its electric trailer axles - the SAF TRAKr, regenerative braking axle that generates electric energy for use on the trailer and the SAF TRAKe trailer axle that provide auxiliary electric drive - have proven to be successful. These allow both regenerative braking and traction, aiding safety, stability and gradeability of truck/trailer combinations.

Both the SAF TRAKr regenerative braking axle and the SAF TRAKe trailer axle with auxiliary electric drive received positive initial user experiences, stated SAF, and the tests have provided new findings for further development.
